December 2018

The LIFE-TRIALKYL project attended Ecomondo and took part to the 3rd European Nutrient Event (ENE3), 6th – 9th November 2018

The LIFE- Trialkyl project team participated to Ecomondo, the leading Euro-Mediterranean area green and circular economy expo, organized in Rimini Fiera from 6th to 9th November.

Ecomondo 2018 presented the latest updates, necessities, challenges and opportunities regarding the reuse and valorisation alternative raw materials, emphasizing the importance of industrial eco-design and new sustainable processes.

The fair focused on circular economy and sustainability, the perfect context to present LIFE- Trialkyl project activities.

This year, for the first time in Italy, Ecomondo hosted the 3rd European Nutrient Event (ENE3), on which projects and investments aimed at recovering phosphorus from sewage sludge.

During the event, via the EASME (Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprise), the European Union presented 38 projects financed by four different Community Programs;

The event was organized on 2 days, 8th and 9th November (Programme – hyperlink: http://www.smart-plant.eu/images/DRAFT-PROGRAMME_Fatone_ESPP_20180904_EN_last.pdf):

– Day 1, focused on phosphorus and nutrient recycling in Italy and Mediterranean region. The new Italian Phosphorus Platform Project was presented.

– Day 2, speakers talked about new nutrient recycling R&D projects, updates on current major projects, nutrient management in Horizon Europe, and potential “Mission on Nutrients and wastes reuse for agriculture”.

In particular, LIFE-Trialkyl was presented during the Day 2 by Maria Cristina Pasi, Project Coordinator. The presentation and round table were based on the assumption that, whatever the manufacturing segment belongs to, an innovative product requires the most suitable material to show the predicted and demanded functionalities. New esthetics, as well as new functionalities and high performances, require innovative plastic materials, in line with the sustainability and circular-economy-based requirements. LIFE-Trialkyl phosphites meet most of the demands by the plastics industry and contribute to offer either a more sustainable phosphorous based solution and nutrients’ intermediates, developed by a circular process.
